LIPS (Latina Increasing Political Strength) is a leadership institute and mentorship program open to young Latinas between 16-21 years old in the Denver area. One of the most exciting things about LIPS is taking a trip to Washington D.C. together, but getting there means earning it!
The program is designed for Latinas to explore their voice and build power to transform their future. LIPS offers participants trainings and tools that are culturally relevant and community-centered, as well as an opportunity to engage with and learn from local advocates, leaders and public officials.
LIPS mentors are an important part of the program because young participants connect with someone who provides guidance, shares their experiences and provides a sense of community throughout the program. Becoming a LIPS mentor is a real commitment, and it will be rewarded with an opportunity to get to know one of the next generation’s poderosas!
The LIPS Spring 2017 Institute runs from February through May 2017, and we are currently recruiting participants AND mentors! Youth can send their participant applications from now and until January 31st, 2017. Mentors applications are due Jan 20th, 2017. Visit bitly.com/LIPS2017 for more info and to apply! Please contact info@colorlatina.org with any questions. LIPS starts on Feb. 11, 2017. Apply NOW!
