Colorado Education Association Endorses Phil Weiser for Governor as Colorado Heads Back to School

On Monday, Democratic nominee for governor of Colorado Phil Weiser announced that he has been endorsed by the Colorado Education Association (CEA), Colorado’s largest labor union that represents nearly 40,000 educators from across the state. CEA works to ensure that public education is funded, educators are respected and supported, and schools are safe for our educators and students.

The endorsement comes as the 2026-2027 school year kicks off across Colorado. Ahead of Denver Public School’s first day of school this week, Phil went back-to-school shopping with Erica Atchison, a special education teacher at Park Hill Elementary, to highlight that many Colorado educators have to rely on donations or spend hundreds of their hard-earned money for the basic supplies they need to do their jobs.

Phil also advocates for the passage of Prop NN, which would remove artificial restraints on our state budget to allow major investments in K-12 schools. Prop NN will appear on the general election ballot.
