The 19th annual Sand Creek Massacre Spiritual Healing Run/Walk begins Thursday, November 23, 7am, at the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site, 55411 County Rd. W, Eads, CO 80136 and will end on Sunday, November 26, at 11am at the Colorado State Capitol, West Steps, 200 E Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80203. Speakers include Tribal Representatives from the Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana, the Northern Arapaho Tribe of Wyoming, and the Cheyenne Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma Ernest House, Jr., Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs, State and Federal Representatives
Participants from the Cheyenne and Arapahoe tribes commit to running 180 miles from the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site to the Colorado State Capitol to honor the victims and survivors of the Sand Creek Massacre. A proclamation will be read recognizing Nov. 23 – 26 as Sand Creek Massacre Spiritual Healing Run and Remembrance Days. Tribal, Federal, and State officials will make additional remarks. Join us as we recognize and acknowledge the significance of the Sand Creek Massacre’s 153rd Anniversary.
