COLOR and COLOR Action Fund
As a Latina-led organization rooted in reproductive justice, we do not ignore harm to preserve comfort. We confront it so our communities can be whole.
This morning, Dolores Huerta acknowledged that allegations of sexual harm to young women and girls within the United Farm Workers (UFW) movement are a reality that she personally experienced and carried in silence for decades.
We believe survivors.
We honor those who name harm, even when it reshapes how our history is remembered. We honor those who carry it in ways we may never see. Our bodies are not collateral.
Survivors’ experiences are too often reduced to a single moment of harm or disclosure, erasing the survival journey and the ways sexual violence disrupts safety, trust, health, and a person’s sense of self. Patriarchy protects and sustains the conditions that allow this violence.
And still, many Latinas and women of color—including the Black women who founded the reproductive justice movement and leaders like Dolores Huerta, who shaped the farmworkers’ movement—continue to carry justice forward, challenging the status quo with clarity and care.
We know that protecting any one person should never come at the cost of our people’s freedom in movements dedicated to true liberation for all.
We all deserve to feel safe in our bodies, safe in our communities, and safe in our movements—especially those who have been historically excluded and asked to carry harm to protect others.
th
We will not compromise to get there.
