Congresswoman Dr. Yadira Caraveo is doing a great job in Congress and deserves to be voted in for another term. In a press release dated February 29, 2024 she explained the elements of a bipartisan package of five immigration bills she was supporting:

  1. The Humanitarian Emergency Localized Partnerships (HELP) for Interior Cities Act
  2. The Assisting Narcotics and Trafficking Offenses in Interdicting (ANTI) Drugs Act
  3. The Humane Accountability Act
  4. The Asylum Seeker Work Authorization Act
  5. The American Dream and Promise Act

Congresswoman Caraveo stated, “An important aspect of this package is that it would clear the backlog of asylum applications by reducing the waiting period for work authorization and creating a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers and those with Temporary Protected Status. As we look to solve the immigration challenges ahead, I remain committed to working in a bipartisan fashion to deliver solutions that work not only for border communities, but also for Colorado.”

Unfortunately, Donald Trump interfered and demanded that the bills be killed. According to Trump, passage of the bill would be viewed as a Democratic party victory. The Republicans in the House and Senate obeyed Trump’s demands and killed the bill.  This bipartisan-crafted bill would have been a victory for the country and would have shown that the parties could work together to solve the needed changes to the immigration system. Congresswoman Caraveo has shown she will work across the aisle for the benefit of her constituents in Congressional District 8, which has the highest percent Hispanic and Latino population in Colorado.

District 8 has a large portion of rural and agricultural communities. Rep. Caraveo sits on the House Agricultural Committee which oversees farm subsidies, rural development initiatives, and nutrition assistance programs. She is focused on supporting our state’s farmers, ranchers and producers, lowering food costs, advocating for rural families, and ensuring Colorado families have access to healthy, nutritious food.  In July, she was part of the livestock dairy and poultry subcommittee which went on to recognize and address the avian bird flu outbreak and took action to protect farm workers and consumers from contamination.

A vote for Caraveo is a vote for common sense and freedom. Re-elect Rep. Dr. Yadira Caraveo.

Rep. Caraveo is Vice Chair of the Health Care, Substance Use, and Mental Health Task Force. Being a doctor, she understands health needs of the community and is determined to see that healthcare is accessible to all including rural communities.  She is a member of the Congressional Bipartisan Rural Health Caucus which provides an avenue for Congressional members to discuss policies that will improve the delivery of health care and mental health services in rural areas. Part of the discussion has been the need to stop the importation and distribution of Fentanyl in our community.

She is also a member of The Science, Space and Aeronautics Committee, which oversees all matters concerning space and aeronautics, NASA (which she voted to reauthorize), and all space related matters related to and including the Department of Transportation and Department of commerce. She supports Space Port which has been proposed to be located in Adams County. She has secured 1.3 million dollars to support the Weld County Airport. These issues are important to not only Congressional District 8 but the entire State of Colorado.

In May, Representative Caraveo was rated as one of the top ten most bipartisan members of Congress.

The Colorado Times Reporter stated that her Republican opponent Gabe Evans would “definitely prioritize the mass deportation of immigrants”, which would include 10 million people who have been in the work force for an average of 16 years. The national unemployment rate is presently 4.3% and in Colorado it’s 3.9%. Evans’ actions would devastate the national and local economy.

Gabe Evans has earned the endorsement of Donald Trump. He is a concealed fire arms instructor and is as radical as the former president. His position on the 2nd Amendment and gun ownership is a Republican NRA-endorsed “hands off my guns,” open carry, no background checks, back to the wild, wild west.  Evans is just too extreme for Colorado, a state which has seen more than enough daily mass shootings.

Evans has been a helicopter pilot and an Army veteran, which included a combat tour in the Mideast. Why would he be proud of an   endorsement of the former president who has called veterans “suckers and losers”?  As a former Arvada police officer, Evans should reject the endorsement of a convicted felon who continually snubs his nose at the law.

Gabe Evans is against public schools. He believes all children should be home-schooled by their parents. He embraces a philosophy that says, to hell with other children and their families who rely on public education to receive equal opportunities. A philosophy that says, I don’t care about education as a public good. A philosophy that says, who cares if the next generation of citizens are educated, contributing members of society?

Gabe Evans claims to be pro-life and is staunchly against abortion and contraception. After eight heart-wrenching miscarriages his wife experienced, we hope he understands the importance of all women receiving the reproductive healthcare they need without government interference.

Rep. Caraveo is working every day to bring attention and help for the citizens of Congressional District 8. She is a no-nonsense, “steady at the wheel” kind of hard-working representative who gets things done.  A vote for Caraveo is a vote for common sense and freedom. Re-elect Rep. Dr. Yadira Caraveo.
