Congresswoman Yadira Caraveo, M.D. (CO-08) hosted her first job fair on Nov. 17, to help ease the labor shortage and connect Colorado job seekers to high-quality work opportunities in and around Colorado’s 8th District. The event, which was hosted during National Apprenticeship Week, brought together prominent businesses, unions, career experts, and community organizations to help Colorado workers navigate the modern job market and thrive in their careers.
“In Colorado, the labor shortage persists with two job openings for every job seeker,” Caraveo stated. “Today was a special opportunity to see local businesses and job seekers coming together and contributing to the collective development of our community. I was proud to host this career fair to play a small part in helping grow the workforce in our state and strengthen our local economy.”
Caraveo was inspired to host this event after a roundtable she held with local union leaders earlier this year.
Last week’s job fair included employers from a wide range of sectors, from construction and manufacturing, to utilities and power, to retail. Those in attendance included Amazon, Colorado Laborers & Contractors Education & Training, Denver Pipefitters Local 208, Hensel Phelps, City of Westminster, National Air Traffic Controllers Association, DJEATC, SMART Local Union 9, Griswold Home Care, Mapleton Public Schools, Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Front Range Community College, and more.
Caraveo also hosted resume coaches at the event, who offered free resume reviews and provided LinkedIn coaching for job seekers.
