U.S. Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, announced this week, his endorsement of State Representative Manny Rutinel for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District.

“I was proud to be the first Dominican-American elected to Congress, and I look forward to Manny becoming the second — bringing a powerful voice for Latinos to Washington. Expanding Hispanic representation is critical to winning back the House and delivering for our communities, and Manny has the vision, passion, and experience to get it done,” said U.S. Representative Adriano Espaillat. “Manny’s story is the American story. Rooted in community, driven by hard work, and committed to ensuring no one is left behind, he understands the challenges facing working families. From working minimum wage at McDonald’s to serving his community as a public servant, Manny’s journey reflects the grit and determination that so many in Colorado’s 8th District deserve in Congress.”

“I’m incredibly grateful for Congressman Adriano Espaillat’s endorsement. Like me, he’s someone who knows what it means to fight for our communities and create real opportunity for everyone. We both come from humble beginnings and understand the importance of representation that reflects the people we serve. We also share a vision of expanding Hispanic voices in Congress — because when our communities have a seat at the table, we can shape policies that truly reflect America’s diversity. This endorsement is especially meaningful because it highlights the growing momentum behind a new generation of leaders committed to uplifting working families and bringing fresh, inclusive perspectives to Congress. With his support, I’m energized to keep pushing for policies that build a stronger Colorado for all,” said Rutinel.

Rutinel leads the Colorado Democratic primary in fundraising, having raised $1.6 million by the end of June, which is more than three times his closest competitor and more than all of them combined. In CO-08, the largest Latino district in Colorado, Rutinel is well-positioned to win the primary and take on Gabe Evans in November 2026.

Colorado State Representative Manny Rutinel launched his campaign to unseat Congressman Gabe Evans (CO-08) in late January 2025. Since then, he has amassed endorsements from over 60 elected officials and community leaders in Colorado, as well as more than 300 volunteers. CO-08 has the largest Latino population in Colorado, nearly 40%. CO-08 also has the only Latino member of Congress.
