Public Can Ride Entire Rail System for Free on Saturday, April 27

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) will join municipalities along the G Line this weekend in celebrating the opening of the Denver metro region’s newest commuter rail line, providing service to Adams County, Arvada and Wheat Ridge.

Festivities will begin at 9 a.m. Friday, April 26, with an hourlong grand opening ceremony at the Wheat Ridge & Ward Station. The public can enjoy free rides on the G Line after the grand opening ceremony through Saturday, May 11. Free rides will be offered on the entire RTD rail system on Saturday, April 27.

Events and station parties will take place on Saturday, April 27, at each of the following G Line stations:
41st & Fox Station (4105 N. Fox St., Denver) – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Community spotlight! Enjoy fun community activities, Denver’s sports teams, food and music.

10 a.m. – art dedication at the station plaza of “Aggregation” by Brian Bush

Pecos Junction Station (6096 Pecos St., Denver) – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Enjoy fun giveaways and ask ambassadors all your RTD-related questions.

Clear Creek & Federal Station (2870 W. 60th St., Denver) – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Fun activities, food and music! Highlights include Digital Globe Selfie, Native Four Winds blessing and local mascots. Learn more about the Butterfly Pavilion, Adams County Library, Adams County Open Space, North Metro Chamber of Commerce and other community organizations.

10:45 a.m. – art dedication at the station for Addison Karl’s mural “Doradus” and Bimmer Torres’ “Roots Crossing,” the latter located at Pecos Junction Station

60th & Sheridan at Arvada Gold Strike Station (5980 Sheridan Blvd., Arvada) – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
RTD ambassadors will be on site to hand out fun giveaways and answer all your questions about the system.

11:30 a.m. – art dedication in front of the platform of “Gold Pour” by Aaron T. Stephan

Olde Town Arvada Station (7430 Grandview Ave., Arvada) – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Explore all that Olde Town Arvada has to offer. Collect a passport as you get off the train to discover Olde Town businesses and restaurants, live music stages, local offers and kids activities.

12:15 p.m. – art dedication in the station plaza of “Track Bone” by Frank Swanson and “Lucky No. 79” – all windscreens along the G line corridor – by Dardinelle Troen

Arvada Ridge Station (10189 West 53rd Ave., Arvada) – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Enjoy fun giveaways and ask ambassadors all your RTD-related questions.

1 p.m. – art dedication at the station tunnel entrance of work by Shane Allbrighton and Norman Lee

Wheat Ridge & Ward Station (12000 Ridge Road, Wheat Ridge) – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Base Camp Wheat Ridge! Experience Colorado’s great outdoors, a deejay and live music, kids activities, local outdoor retail vendors, food trucks and games.

1:40 p.m. – art dedication on the plaza of “Anchored By Place” by Michael Clapper
