Planet in Peril: Call to Action


A coalition of groups have come together to present “Planet in Peril: Call to Action,” an afternoon of interactive activism and arts around climate crisis and climate justice. The event features the following components:

-A multimedia arts event with local artists and video screening

-A debate among Colorado US Senate candidates*

A panel on how to take climate action and get involved: “What Are We Willing to Do?”

This is a nonpartisan event, and candidates from all parties have been invited. The event will be held in Denver on Feb. 15, from 1:00-4:30pm at the Tivoli Turnhalle in partnership with Metropolitan State University. The address is 900 Auraria Pkwy, Denver, CO 80204.
“Our goals are to showcase local artists and activists, encourage the candidates to commit to serious action regarding climate justice, raise awareness on a local, state, and national level about climate injustice, and show folks how to take climate action in a variety of ways,” says co-organizer Tania Van Pelt.
The event starts at 1pm with the doors opening at 12:45pm Upon entering, attendees will be able to engage with the art and mingle with artists, candidates, and panelists. The event itself ends at 4pm followed by opportunities for students and young people to network with organizers, artists, and activist leaders.
U.S. Senate candidates attending include Diana Bray, Lorena García, Andrew Romanoff, Stephany Rose Spaulding (or proxy), Trish Zornio, Michelle Ferrigno Warren, Critter Milton, Dave Goldfischer, and Erik Underwood.
John Hickenlooper has declined to attend this climate-related event for a second time now, and Cory Gardner has not responded to an invitation to attend.
The Tivoli Brewery will offer food & drink specials to attendees of the event.
