Colorado Attorney General and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Phil Weiser wrapped up his Fight for Colorado tour Saturday in Denver with the official release of his Colorado Blueprint, a grassroots policy agenda shaped by ideas and feedback from hundreds of Coloradans across the state.
The final event of his tour, held at Backyard on Blake in Denver, follows a series of conversations with residents and local leaders in Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Brighton, Glenwood Springs, Montrose, Buena Vista, Edwards, Dillon, Greeley, Fort Collins, Alamosa, Durango, and Grand Junction. The Fight for Colorado tour has taken Weiser across the state to meet Coloradans where they are and hear directly about their priorities, challenges, and hopes for the future.
The Colorado Blueprint, available at philforcolorado.com/The-Colorado-Blueprint, lays out his plan to keep standing up for Colorado against attacks by the Trump White House and to tackle Colorado’s biggest challenges—from affordability and jobs to education and public safety to water security and climate resilience. Some of those ideas include:
- Trump-Proof Colorado: fight illegal acts to militarize Colorado, stop federal sales of our public lands, enforce laws preventing sales of government facilities for ICE detention centers, and stand up to Trump’s lawless acts to punish Colorado for our voting laws.
- Boost homes Coloradans can afford, including increasing attainable owner-occupied homes by 40,000, closing the current gap of needed homes by 50%, and reducing costs for renters, including by banning price collusion through algorithms by corporate landlords to protect renters.
- Take on social media giants and scale up a Colorado mentorship program for our kids, who are spending 6 hours online, with access to guns and drugs, and need stronger connections and to build greater resilience.
- Champion a Colorado Earn-and-Learn Promise to expand paths into good-paying jobs, including apprenticeships and other work-based learning opportunities.
- Launch ColoradoCorps—a service program for 18-26 year olds for careers in education, law enforcement, health care, counseling, and fire fighting.
“During these challenging times, I believe in the promise of Colorado,” said Weiser. “Our Colorado Blueprint is about building a future where everyone can afford to live, raise a family, and thrive. It’s a roadmap shaped by listening to people across our state—from the San Luis Valley to the Western Slope to the Front Range—and it reflects how I will lead: by listening, collaborating, and taking action.”
Weiser was joined by Denver County District Attorney John Walsh, Fort Collins Mayor Jeni Arndt, Community Leader Omar Montgomery Racquel García, HardBeauty CEO and Community Advocate.
“Phil Weiser’s leadership reflects a deep commitment to justice, safety, and equity — not just in words, but in action. I trust Phil to lead with integrity and to keep building a Colorado where every community feels safe, heard, and respected,” said Walsh.
“Phil has consistently shown up for communities that are too often left out of the conversation. His platform is rooted in justice and opportunity for all—values that matter deeply to Aurora and communities like ours,” said Montgomery. “He understands that building a stronger Colorado means protecting civil rights, investing in education, and ensuring every voice is heard in the policymaking process.”
“Phil puts people first—as a humanitarian—he’s laser focused on innovation and opportunity just when we need it most. As Attorney General, he’s defended the rule of law. As Governor, he will be creating law and policy working with local governments—to solve real problems for the people of Colorado,” said Fort Collins Mayor Jeni Arndt.
Racquel Garcia said, “I know transformation doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time. It takes grit. And it takes heart. That’s the kind of leadership that Phil Weiser brings. He listens; he learns. And he acts from strong ground–grounded in service, justice, and love for Colorado.”
After graduating from law school, Weiser was fortunate to serve as a law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justices Byron R. White and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Following his clerkships, Weiser went on to work as an antitrust lawyer for the U.S. Department of Justice.
In 2009, President Barack Obama selected Weiser as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division. In 2010, he worked in the White House as a senior advisor for technology and innovation for the National Economic Council.
At the University of Colorado, Weiser became Dean of the Law School, taught constitutional and antitrust law, and founded Silicon Flatirons, a groundbreaking center on law, technology, and entrepreneurship. He also founded successful nonprofits in support of startup businesses across Colorado and was chosen to chair Governor Ritter’s Innovation Council.
In 2018, Weiser ran for office for the first time, and was elected to serve as Attorney General of Colorado. He was reelected in 2022. Weiser, a first generation American, is the son and grandson of Holocaust survivors. His family immigrated to the United States as refugees after his mother and grandmother were liberated from Buchenwald concentration camp by American soldiers during World War II. Weiser currently lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife, Dr. Heidi Wald, and two children.
