Thousands of Jews and allies, including descendants of Holocaust survivors, joined the Front Range Jewish Voice for Peace Chapter to shut down the Jewish National Funds (JNF) national conference that took place on December 3, 2023. Thousands joined efforts in protesting the JNF and Israel’s involvement in the ongoing genocide in Gaza. The JNF has been key to Israel’s expropriation of Palestinian land.
On December 3, protestors with Jewish Voice for Peace shut down Speer and Champa just outside of the Denver convention center which was hosting the JNF while chanting “Let Gaza Live”. They held signs that stated, “Not In Our Name”. Additionally, the protestors demanded “An end to the U.S. supported Israeli perpetrated genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and a total withdrawal of Israeli troops”.
Arnie Carter is not the person who should be on trial.”

The protest was peaceful, with numerous members of JVP and their allies demonstrating against the $14.3 billion in military funding to Israel. The protestors called on the JNF and Israel to “Stop Funding Genocide.” During the protest, the police arrested 15 members of JVP. Fourteen of those arrested reached settlements with the Denver City Attorney’s Office, but Arnie Carter is set to go on trial on October 11th.
On July 11, at 8:30am, Jewish Voices for Peace, and supporters will gather at the Lindsey-Flanagan Courthouse in downtown Denver, in support of Arnie Carter.
Arnie Carter stated, “Our government, the Biden Administration, and many administrations before them have supported the Israeli government’s policy of ethnic cleansing and apartheid. The last nine months we have seen the darkest bloodiest genocide in modern times. The use of starvation, lack of water and medicine as weapons of war. Murder of thousands of children. Words are not adequate to describe the crimes and suffering. Biden, Bibi, Blinken are soaked in the blood of the people of Gaza. They are war criminals of the worst sort. The only sane thing to do in this madness is to stand with the people of Palestine.”
The number of protests that have been led by Jews Voice for Peace have been historic for Colorado. Many allies that support peace and want to bring an end to the genocide have been largely supported by 70% of Americans.
“Arnie Carter is not the person who should be on trial. Feckless Democrats who have no interest in diplomacy, and only know how to tail their President are the ones who should be on trial. The same President whose government has continued to give the Israeli military over 3.8 billion dollars per year. And so, people like Arnie must step up and do what cowardly politicians refuse to. Arnie has done nothing wrong! He has committed nothing but a civic virtue. This is an inditement of the absurd system which would punish someone who peacefully protests asking to stop a genocide. And please do consider the time and tax dollars wasted by the foolish and obstinate City Attorney’s office in pursuing a completely non-violent, free-speech case. Who, I might add, demonstrably have no interest in free speech or the constitution despite how much they might say so,” said Noah Perlmutter, member of JVP.
Dr. Reema Wahdan, a member of the Colorado Palestine Club stated “As the death toll of Palestinians at the hands of Israel surpasses 37,000, we demand our government heed the people’s voice and dismiss the unjust accusations against our friend Arnie Carter. The Palestinian community deeply values the courageous solidarity of our Jewish friends, and we are profoundly grateful for Arnie’s fearless stance in upholding moral principles through peaceful resistance, especially when our elected leaders neglect to advocate for a Gaza ceasefire.”
JVP stated, “Collectively we demand to Free Arnie Carter! We demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire. Lastly, we demand an end to the genocide in Gaza.”
