\nThis is the third year that Colorado Veterans Project is spearheading one of the largest Veterans Day Parades in the state. Comprised of thousands of local Veteran organizations, current military and community supporters, this annual celebration brings in over 8,000 spectators to downtown Denver to salute our Veterans. This year\u2019 s celebration will take place on Saturday, November 12 with a parade at 10am, and will be followed with a festival at Denver\u2019 s Civic Center Park (101 W. 14th Ave.), which will run from noon to 3pm.<\/p>\n
Over 75 Veteran organizations have agreed to co-mingle and march together to showcase their organizations historic roots in our country\u2019 s history. The parade will be broken down into serials that represent a different conflict in military history. (I.e. Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI, WWII, etc.) Each engagement will feature military memorabilia from that era including old uniforms, vehicles, weapons and in most recent eras \u2013 military members that served in those wars. In addition, a UH-1 Huey Helicopter retired from the Vietnam War will also be showcased.<\/p>\n
Out of our 8,000+ spectators, numerous local officials will be in attendance including Denver Mayor Michael Hancock who has offered the city\u2019 s support for the event, which is on course to be the biggest in Denver history. Other local officials include Congressmen Mike Coffman and Ed Perlmutter as well as several City Council and VA Representatives.<\/p>\n
Immediately following the Parade, all of the military memorabilia featured will go on static display in Civic Center Park and the Annual Denver Veterans Day Festival will commence. This Denver Veterans Day Festival was created as a celebratory \u2018 Thank You\u2019 to our Veterans. Civic Center Park, the focal point of the parade, will turn into a family-friendly festival for parade spectators to mix and mingle with dozens of Veteran organizations all while enjoying food, drinks and music from local bands. In addition to these festivities, Colorado Veterans Project and Make a Wish Foundation have partnered together to give away a car to one local deserving Veteran. <\/p>\n
Both the President and Vice-President of Colorado Veterans Project have an affinity for Colorado\u2019 s Veterans.
