The Weekly Issue/El Semanario is very pleased to endorse Dr. Yadira Caraveo for U.S. Congressional Representative in the 8th Congressional District. Dr. Caraveo is a practicing Medical Doctor of Pediatrics and a member of the Colorado House of Representatives.
Dr. Yadira Caraveo is on a remarkable upward trajectory in her twin careers as Pediatrician and Representative and will continue to excel as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives in the upcoming Congress.
Voters in the newly established District 8 will be voting in this District for the first time this upcoming election on November 8, as it was drawn by the Redistricting Commission in 2021 and certified by the Colorado Supreme Court on November 1, 2021. This election is therefore the first time Colorado will send eight Congressional Representatives to Washington, D.C. thanks to Colorado receiving this new Congressional district due to Colorado’s growing population. District 8 includes portions of Adams, Larimer, and Weld Counties, and among other cities such locales as Thornton, Brighton, and Greeley.

Dr. Yadira Caraveo has served since 2018 in the Colorado State Legislature in the House of Representatives for the 31st District, with Thornton as a major population center. Therefore, Dr. Caraveo will carry her Colorado Representative commitments to her constituents with her to Washington, D.C. should she win this Congressional race.
Dr. Caraveo has had a remarkably successful career as a medical doctor, and more recently as a Colorado House Representative since 2018. The two responsibilities and careers merged for her, as they continue to do. As her information states about her medical practice in Adams County, “with 65% of her patients’ families on Medicaid, she quickly understood that truly helping children required a lot more than what she was able to do as a doctor.” She ran for and won a seat in the State Legislature to pass state-wide legislation in such areas as lowering the high cost of medicine prescriptions, limiting toxic pollution affecting children’s health, and ensuring that “all Coloradans have access to paid family and sick leave,” among other essential legislation. She achieved such impressive accomplishments in a relatively short time, all the while continuing her medical practice for her patients including extended hours on Saturday while the Legislature was in session.
