Denver Launches New Rebate Program for High-Demand Climate-Ready Jobs

Denver’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency (CASR) has launched the Training Rebate program to help people upskill into fast‑growing, climate‑focused careers. The program reimburses individuals up to $2,500 for approved certifications, courses, and exams. This covers full cost for most approved trainings. Training Rebates expand access to good‑paying jobs, support local businesses, and give more people the skills critical to building a cleaner, more resilient Denver.

 

“Denver is accelerating toward a future where every neighborhood is powered by clean energy and protected from climate risks,” said Elizabeth Babcock, Executive Director of Denver’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency. “This program puts opportunity directly in the hands of the people building that future, giving them the tools, credentials, and skills to grow or step into quality, meaningful jobs.”

 

At the beginning of the year, Mayor Johnston announced a 2026 citywide Climate Resilient goal to install 5,000 clean energy systems and add 50 acres of green infrastructure. This program supports that goal by helping develop the workforce needed to meet demand in the industries shaping Denver’s climate‑ready economy.

 

Helping Denver’s Workforce Stay Ahead

 

Many industries, such as construction, HVAC, energy, facilities management, transportation, landscaping, and more, are evolving rapidly. The Training Rebate program is designed to help people:

 

  • Stay competitive in their current field
  • Qualify for higher‑paying work
  • Expand into in‑demand specialties
  • Future‑proof their careers

 

Approved trainings are available for the following industries:

  • Trades & Construction (HVAC, electricians, pipefitters, builders)
  • Facilities & Energy Management
  • EV Maintenance & Charging Infrastructure
  • Urban Forestry/Tree Care
  • Water Management
  • Compost Operations

 

Who Can Apply

 

To be eligible for a rebate, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Live in Denver
  • Work in Denver
  • Attend a Denver college, training program, or trade school

 

How the Program Works

  1. Choose an approved training from the city’s list of eligible certifications, courses, or exams.
  2. Complete and pay for it. Keep your proof of completion and payment.
  3. Apply for reimbursement through the Training Rebate program. Submit your documentation with the application.
  4. Receive your rebate. Payments are issued as e‑checks. Applicants may submit multiple trainings until they reach the $2,500 cap.

 

A third‑party administrator reviews all applications for secure and timely processing.
