Colorado’s Presidential Primary Election is happening on Tuesday, March 5. Ballots began mailing to Denver voters on Monday, February 12. Voters who are affiliated with either major party (Republican or Democratic) received a ballot for the party with which they are affiliated. All Unaffiliated voters received ballots for each party but may only vote one ballot for it to be counted.

As of Feb 28, nearly 14% of Denver voters have returned their ballots to be processed and counted in the election. Unfortunately, we’ve identified a trend for Unaffiliated voters who have returned two ballots, attempting to vote in both parties resulting in a rejection of ballots, cancelling out both of their ballots. To date, we’ve rejected over 200 ballots due to this error. We would like to urge Unaffiliated voters to only vote on one ballot of their choice.

Additionally, Monday, February 26 was the last day to vote by mail to ensure ballots will reach us in time to be counted for the March 5 election, therefore we encourage voters to drop their ballots at one of our 24-7 drop boxes around the city. To find out where voters can vote via drop box or in-person, visit www.denvervotes.org. All ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on March 5 to be counted toward the Presidential Primary Election.
