Denver Clerk and Recorder Paul D. López Honored With Prestigious Mexicanos Distinguidos Award

At this week’s annual diez y seis de septiembre celebration commemorating México’s independence, Denver Clerk & Recorder Paul D. López received the Mexicanos Distinguidos Award, a distinguished honor bestowed by the Government of México.

 

The award recognizes Mexicans who have demonstrated outstanding achievements and made meaningful contributions to their communities and fields of work outside of México. Clerk López, who was born and raised in Denver’s Westside and holds dual citizenship with México, and is the son of an immigrant father from Veracruz, México.

 

The award was announced by México’s Consul General in Denver, Pável Meléndez Cruz, at a gathering of local and statewide leaders at the Governor’s Residence at the Boettcher Mansion.

 

Established to highlight the global impact of Mexican citizens, the Mexicanos Distinguidos Award celebrates leadership and excellence in areas including public service, culture, science, business and community development. Honorees reside and work outside of Mexico and distinguish themselves through their service and professional accomplishments while uplifting the image of the Mexico and its people.

 

“I am profoundly humbled to be recognized by the people of México,” said Clerk Paul López. “This honor is not only a reflection of my work, but most importantly of the very resilience and contributions of the Mexican community here in Denver and across the United States. I am proud to represent the dignity of our people and the shared commitment to democracy at home and abroad.”

 

The recognition underscores López’s lifelong leadership and commitment to protecting and expanding access to the democratic process for all Denver residents.
