Colorado Draws the Line (CDL) announced on June 30 they are the “No” committee opposing Advance Colorado’s ballot referenda — measures that, if passed, would permanently prohibit Colorado from fighting back against mid-decade congressional gerrymandering by national Republicans.
The announcement comes just one day after the Colorado Supreme Court struck down three redistricting ballot measures designed to counter Donald Trump’s unprecedented mid-decade gerrymandering scheme — while simultaneously allowing Advance Colorado’s anti-reform referenda to proceed. Republicans stand to net up to 11 congressional seats nationwide due to maps redrawn at Trump’s urging across Texas, Ohio, Missouri, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and Tennessee.
Advance Colorado — a group with documented ties to Russian oligarchs and far-right extremists — is pushing ballot measures that go far beyond blocking this year’s response to Republican redistricting. Their referenda would permanently ban Colorado from ever enacting mid-decade redistricting reforms in future election cycles, locking in a structural advantage for Republicans for decades to come.
“Colorado voters deserve to know what’s really at stake here. Advance Colorado isn’t just asking us to stand down this year — they want to lock Colorado out of redistricting fights forever. While Republicans freely redraw congressional maps in red states to eliminate Democratic seats, Advance Colorado is trying to make sure Colorado can never fight back. Backed by foreign money and far-right extremists, they’re working to permanently rig Colorado’s future. We have thousands of Coloradans who refuse to let that happen, and we are just getting started,” said Val Beck, Executive Director of Colorado Draws the Line.
Colorado Draws the Line is a formally registered Issue Committee with the Colorado Secretary of State (TRACER ID: 20265051540, registered January 16, 2026) that supports or opposes ballot issues and ballot questions that would reform Colorado’s redistricting process. With thousands of grassroots supporters across the state, CDL has been building momentum since early this year in anticipation of exactly this kind of political maneuver.
If Advance Colorado’s referenda pass, Colorado would:
- Permanently lose the ability to enact mid-decade redistricting reforms
- Be unable to respond when Republicans redraw maps to eliminate Colorado’s representation in future cycles
- Hand national Republicans a lasting structural advantage in congressional elections
Colorado Draws the Line is mobilizing its network of thousands of grassroots supporters to defeat Advance Colorado’s measures at the ballot box this November.
Colorado Draws the Line is a statewide Issue Committee fighting to protect fair representation for all Coloradans. Formally registered with the Colorado Secretary of State (TRACER ID: 20265051540), CDL supports or opposes ballot issues and ballot questions that would reform Colorado’s redistricting process. Supported by thousands of grassroots Coloradans, CDL believes every vote should count equally and that no political party should be allowed to permanently rig the rules in their favor.
