Expect More Arizona, is proud to announce the selection of Christine M. Thompson as their new President and CEO. The selection was made following an extensive search by their board of directors. Thompson will assume this new role on Oct. 30, 2017.
“We are pleased to announce this appointment,” reported Tammy McCleod, Expect More Arizona’s board chair. “Christine has a breadth of perspective and experience in the education policy arena as well as a deep sense of commitment to Expect More Arizona’s mission to support the success of every Arizona student, regardless of their background.”
Thompson’s resume includes over 20 years of experience in the education, government and nonprofit sectors. She holds a Juris Doctorate and a Bachelor of Arts in political science, both from the University of Arizona.
Most recently, she has been leading Achieve60AZ, an independent alliance of organizations focused on increasing the number of Arizonans with post high school certificates and degrees. Previously, Thompson served as executive director of the Arizona State Board of Education, associate vice president for government affairs for the Arizona Board of Regents, and director of government relations for the State Bar of Arizona.
“I look forward to continuing to serve Arizona’s students and educators in this new capacity,” said Thompson. “Having benefited from my experiences in Arizona schools and universities, I am excited about the opportunity to build upon the great work Expect More Arizona is doing to strengthen classrooms and communities.”
Dedicated to public service, Thompson is vice president of the University of Arizona Law College Association and is a fellow in the Flinn-Brown Civic Leadership Academy.
