State Representative Manny Rutinel (D-Commerce City) and candidate for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District attended the Greeley No Kings Protest on Oct. 18.
“Our democracy doesn’t belong to billionaires or political dynasties – it belongs to the people,” said Rep. Manny Rutinel. “Donald Trump is invading our cities to distract from his Epstein files and to strip hundreds of thousands of Coloradans of their health care so he can give more tax breaks to his billionaire buddies. He’s attacking our democracy, and we’re here to fight back.”
Rutinel, the son of a single mom who immigrated to the U.S. in search of the American dream, also drew a contrast with his opponent, Republican Congressman Gabe Evans.
“I know what it’s like to struggle and to rely on programs like Medicaid and food stamps: programs that helped my family survive,” Rutinel said. “Gabe Evans and Donald Trump are destroying those same programs to serve the powerful few. That’s why this fight is personal for me. Real leadership isn’t about going after our most vulnerable neighbors, it’s about lifting everyone up. To every Coloradan who feels unseen or unheard: we see you, we hear you, and we are fighting for you.”
